Romans 6:18
18 KJV:Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19
KJV:I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Paul in verse 19 explains why he descended so low in his illustration.
Then we get to verse 20 where it says that when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free form righteousness.
Eritrous: righteousness-free
Galatians 4: 22
KJV:For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
The Word translated freewoman is the same word eritrous.
Paul had no word to really explain this teaching in a way that it will be well understood, this is why he had to apologize to them. His intention wasn’t really to give them the impression that they were righteousness-free.
Acts 22:23
23 KJV:And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,
24 KJV:The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.
25 KJV:And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?
26 KJV:When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.
27 KJV:Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.
28 KJV:And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.
There’s a difference between being made free from sin and being made sin-free.
They are not the same.
John 8:30
30KJV:As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 KJV:Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 KJV:And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 KJV:They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? We are born free.
I Christianity, we don’t get set free, we are free born. These disciples of Jesus were telling Jesus, how can we be set free, we were born free.
This will help you understand Romans 6:20 KJV:For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
You are amazing today! You are just receiving everything. Let’s move right into Chapter 8 of Romans from verse 1.
1 KJV:There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
I understand that thou shall not lie Means that since I have the nature of God, it is contrary to my nature for me to lie.
KJV:For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
There’s no law of sin and death, No, here it actually means Free from the the law of sin, and free from death.
3 KJV:For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
For the Jews Romans, they were freed from the the law of sin but for the Gentiles, they were free from death.
If you study chapter 7 from verse 14,
you will find why some people believe that so long as you are in this body, you will never be able to stop sin. They thought Paul was like them. This is the same message most of them grew up with. If this message is true, then why did Jesus come?
If you study further, you will discover that those who are carnally minded are those who mind the things of the flesh. But those of us who are in the Spirit, mind the things of the spirit. We therefore do not walk after the flesh but after the spirit. Glory to God!
See, you are the result or product of the message that you hear.
Then Pastor gives an illustration. You should not miss church meeting.
See, you are controlled by what you hear. What you hear everyday controls you. Only the Word of God is truth. Hear and live by it.
Let’s continue Romans 8, verse 6.
KJV:For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
This doesn’t mean like the Living Bible puts it to have the sinful nature within, no it means to set your mind on things of the flesh.
7 KJV:Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
KJV:So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
I heard this message when I was young and we were always warn about the flesh, beware of the flesh, beware of the flesh until I saw verse 9
Look at verse 9
9 KJV:But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Galatians 5:24
Don’t let anyone make you feel like you are not a real Christian. If you are born again, you are a real Christian. Now, if you have not been living like a Christian, now begin to live like one. Leave the way the world live and live like the one that is in the Spirit, for you are truly in the spirit.
